CBSE Class XII Informatics Practices Sample Question Paper 2026–27 (Code 065)

Class 12 · Informatics Practices

The CBSE Class XII Informatics Practices Sample Question Paper 2026–27 (Subject Code 065) provides the official assessment framework and question paper structure for the Academic Session 2026–27. The examination is of 3 hours duration and carries a maximum of 70 marks.

The Sample Question Paper contains 37 questions, all of which are compulsory. The paper is divided into five sections, Section A to Section E. There is no overall choice; however, internal choices have been provided in selected questions. Students are required to attempt only one option where an internal choice is given.

All programming questions are to be answered using the Python programming language. In multiple-choice questions, students are required to write the text of the correct answer as well. CBSE has also stated that there is no change in the Question Paper Design and Assessment Pattern for the Academic Session 2026–27.

Question Paper Structure

  • Section A: Questions 1–21, carrying 1 mark each (21 marks).
  • Section B: Questions 22–28, carrying 2 marks each (14 marks).
  • Section C: Questions 29–32, carrying 3 marks each (12 marks).
  • Section D: Questions 33–34, carrying 4 marks each (8 marks).
  • Section E: Questions 35–37, carrying 5 marks each (15 marks).

Major Areas Covered

The Sample Question Paper assesses both programming and theoretical concepts through objective, conceptual, output-based, SQL, Python and application-oriented questions.

  • Pandas: Series, DataFrames, indexing, Boolean Indexing, head(), read_csv(), DataFrame creation, addition of Series, adding and deleting columns, renaming columns and adding rows.
  • Data Visualization: Matplotlib and creation of line graphs with titles, axis labels, legends and plotted data.
  • SQL: String functions, mathematical functions, aggregate functions, GROUP BY, HAVING, ORDER BY, joins, NULL values and data manipulation commands.
  • Computer Networks: Networking devices, topologies, LAN, communication technologies, VoIP, switches, repeaters and network planning.
  • Cyber Safety: Cybercrime scenarios, digital security, communication etiquette and responsible online behaviour.
  • Digital Footprints: Active and passive digital footprints and their implications.
  • Societal Impacts: Intellectual Property Rights, e-waste management, recycling, reuse, reduction and refurbishing.
  • Web Technologies: Static and dynamic websites, website hosting and concepts related to cookies.

Pandas and Python Programming

Several questions assess practical Python programming using the Pandas library. Students are required to create Series from dictionaries, perform operations on DataFrames, work with indexes, manipulate columns and rows, and interpret the results of Series operations.

The paper also includes a practical DataFrame-based question requiring students to create a DataFrame using a dictionary of Series, add a new row and display a selected column. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1} :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}

SQL and Database Applications

SQL questions cover commonly used string, mathematical and aggregate functions along with filtering, grouping, sorting and joining of tables. Students are required both to write SQL queries and to determine the output of given queries.

Application-based questions include working with hospital, sports, employee, department, book and product tables. Tasks include using LOWER(), UPPER(), LENGTH(), RIGHT(), MID(), POWER(), MOD(), TRIM(), COUNT(), MAX(), GROUP BY, HAVING and table joins. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3} :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}

Data Visualization with Matplotlib

A 4-mark programming question requires students to write a Python program using Matplotlib to create a line graph representing monthly sales. The question assesses library import, plotting data, title, X-axis and Y-axis labels, legend and displaying the graph. :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5}

Networking and Web Technologies

The paper includes a case-based networking question involving a technology company's campus consisting of four blocks. Students must apply networking concepts to identify the appropriate location for a server, determine the type of network, suggest switch placement, distinguish between static and dynamic websites, and identify where repeaters are required based on inter-block distances. :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}

Cyber Safety and Digital Citizenship

Questions address practical digital-security situations, including identifying cybercrime from real-world scenarios, cyberbullying and communication etiquette in online discussion forums. The paper also tests understanding of active and passive digital footprints and responsible digital behaviour. :contentReference[oaicite:7]{index=7} :contentReference[oaicite:8]{index=8}

SQL Commands and Database Modification

The final section includes practical SQL commands involving INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, ALTER TABLE and DROP TABLE. An alternative question focuses on SQL functions for rounding values, pattern matching, filtering records, calculating totals and removing leading spaces. :contentReference[oaicite:9]{index=9}

Important Note

The Sample Question Paper is designed to assess a combination of conceptual understanding, programming skills, data handling, SQL proficiency, computational thinking and practical application of Informatics Practices concepts.

Teachers and students can use this Sample Question Paper to understand the expected question paper structure, question types, mark distribution and breadth of topics for the CBSE Class XII Informatics Practices examination for the Academic Session 2026–27.
